If reclining with friends on shaded lawns to the tunes of live jazz – chilled wine and sumptuous food aplenty – sounds good, be sure to book at Delheim for the Start of Harvest Festival, set to take place on Saturday 29 January.

The party begins at 12 noon on the scenic picnic area behind the Delheim cellar on the historic Stellenbosch wine estate. Picnic baskets featuring gourmet German fare will be served on a pre-booked basis, while smoked salmon, ostrich or vegetarian Panini’s will be available on the day. Partially-fermented grape must and sweet mosbolletjies will again be a staple feature of this well-loved yearly event.

A competitive grape stomp relay event to be held at 15h00 will entertain the adventurous (and doubtless amuse other guests) with fantastic prizes up for grabs to winners and grinners (team spirit champs). If you participate bring old clothes.

Tickets will be restricted to the first 100 guests at R50 per adult and R25 per child; while entry for the grape stomp relay is for maximum 8-member team free. Individuals or smaller groups can also participate. Picnics are available at R120 per adult and R60 per child.

Bookings are essential, via delheim@delheim.com or telephone 021 888 4600.

Delheim is located on the Knorhoek Road off the R44, Stellenbosch.
